Hi, I’m Sheleka,
photographer, pole artist, and the creator behind Miyako Studios.

I started this work because I’ve always been drawn to capturing people in ways that feel natural, vibrant, and true to who they are, helping them see themselves in a new way. Photography has been part of my life for over a decade, but when I found pole, I experienced that same level of connection within myself. It challenged me and reconnected me to my body in a way I didn’t expect.

Miyako Studios was created from that intersection,
where what you feel in your body becomes something you can see.

Through Sakka Sessions, I offer two core experiences:

Sakka Shots – expressive portrait sessions that capture your story, your energy, and your presence
Sakka Spins – pole dance classes designed to build strength, confidence, and body awareness

My approach is rooted in creating an environment that feels safe, supportive, and creatively freeing. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to know what you’re doing. You just need to show up as you are.

I also want to acknowledge that pole as a practice comes from women, especially in spaces where movement has been used as a form of work, expression, and survival. This space is about honoring that history with respect, including the people who made this art form possible.
